The urban design competition that took place in 2000 had the objective to convert a contaminating industrial area in gent into a sustainable dense residential neighbourhood with a mix of residential units, elderly home, community centre and primary school.

our proposal had four basic principals. multiple use of land by layering. use of recycled water as landscape. stacks of private units. pedestrian friendly environment. we named our design strategy “slice & fold”
